A publisher of occult works and other esoterica.

GroundMark Press

Submission Guidelines

We are seeking submissions from authors who write thoughtful, philosophical work—work that may range beyond the scope of larger publishing houses whose primary focus is the Pagan mass market. We are that little, underground publisher whose catalogue will always feature consistently thought-provoking and surprising work—and we are just getting started.

Are you the type of author who writes those insightful (and sometimes controversial) words? Does that make it hard for you to get accepted at a traditional publishing house, which may be looking for something slightly more 101 and MUCH more vanilla? You may be a GroundMark author.

If you are interested in publishing under our imprint, in addition to demonstrating that the subject matter of your book fits into our targeted areas, you should try to make your writing clear, well-organized and easy to follow even if the subject matter itself is highly technical or complex. Generally speaking, we will not publish works of fiction or books about elves, fairies/faeries, werewolves, vampires, angels and the like; nor will we publish books targeted at teens or youth. We often enjoy reading books on those subjects, but they are not topics we will consider publishing under the GroundMark Press imprint.  We will consider many occult or new age subjects, however: general magic(k), Wicca, witches, Druidry, alternative science, synchronicity, spell craft, the Tarot, etc.. We are especially interested in authors willing to use alternative licensing, and we are keen on submissions having to do with magic(k) theory.

We accept completed manuscripts only. Once you submit your manuscript, please do not be alarmed if you do not get a response from us for approximately 90 days. This is industry standard. We may have a number of manuscripts to evaluate, and we want to give each the attention it deserves. Remember that although you are not guaranteed an acceptance at GroundMark Press, you may still be accepted by another publisher if we decline you. You may also choose to publish directly through Lulu (the POD service we would recommend).

All works published by GroundMark Press are creator-owned. In other words, you hold the rights to your work. Royalties are paid quarterly; we do not pay advances on royalties at this time.

Your submission packet should include

· A professional cover letter

· Your completed manuscript

· A brief description or synopsis of your book—something one might read on the dust jacket or back cover

· An “About the Author” statement

· An explanation of why you think the market needs your book: why this information should be shared

Please send your packet in Word document or PDF format to GroundMark Press @ g mail d0t c0m.
